PGDM (EM) Batch Three (2020-22)
In this advert time, NTPC School of Business conducted an online PGDM (EM) Batch 3 Induction and Orientation Program from 17th August to 22nd August 2020. The programme involved interaction with speakers from various dynamic fields who came forward to discuss their experiences and learning with the students.
The sessions took a notch when the students got an opportunity to talk with Mr. Rohit Vadhawani, the Group Manager-Strategic Initiatives at HCL. He is an Alumni of Xavier Inst. Of Management. Mr. Rohit has 10+ years of experience with organizations like Alstom, HSBC, and PwC. In his current role, he is leading strategic initiatives in HCL Technology and working on strategies related to new geographies, employees’ welfare, and productivity initiatives. He shared his views on “Your career is a Marathon, Not a sprint”. Mr. Manish Upadhyay, an Entrepreneur, People Performance Expert, TEDx Speaker, SME Trainer, and Small Business Coach had session with students. He has an experience of 10 years in training where he has helped 18+ Industry Domains and more than 50k people for breakthrough performance. He gave an insight to students on the ‘Power of Attitude’, Breakthrough Personality, Confidence Multiplier, 11 Productivity Hacks to become No.1 Management Graduate in Country.
Mr. A.K. Gupta is an electrical Engineer from DCE and Post Graduate in Management from ASCI, MDI, IIM-Kozhikode, and IMI also interacted with students. In a career span of 37 years with NTPC, he has been exposed to every link of the power value chain in mega power plant execution. He is the first person to join HURL as MD where he established the firm from scratch. He talked about the upcoming challenges in the corporate market. Mr. Govind Negi, HR and Business leader, blogger, social activist with dual Masters from Symbiosis talked about aligning HR strategies with organization strategies post-COVID era. He has 19+ years of rich experience in the field of Talent Management. Currently, he is designated as Sr Director-Talent Management & Delivery Center Lead for a global IT company called 3Pillar Global having a global presence in 4 countries US, India, Romania, and the UK. He
Mr. Soumyakant Mishra, GM HR- GMRVF, GMR Group gave a vibrant session on “Corporate Values – The Mantra for Marathon”. He has done B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in HR. He has around 15 years of experience in HR predominantly in the Education and Healthcare Industry. He is a certified evaluator by Hay Group and is certified in Thomas Profiling. In addition to his professional assignments, Mr. Mishra also has a passion for networking and he has co-created an HR forum called GHRD which has 23,000 young HR professionals as members across 23 chapters in the country. Ms. Rajeshwari Narendran, Professor HR/OB, M L Sukhadia University, Udaipur, and Visiting Professor to IIM Udaipur, IIM Ahmedabad, and many Universities across the globe conducted vibrant sessions on “How to be relevant in Present Time” & “Managing and Coping Stress”. . Her work for the emancipation of rural and tribal women and Make A Difference (MAD) initiative for rural and youth development have been greatly appreciated by the Government of Rajasthan, India. She is a popular trainer/ HRD Consultant and has trained 55000 plus aspirants in India and abroad. She is Board Member IFTDO and also currently member, Developing Countries Concern Committee, representing in UN Board and working for the development of Women in Leadership and Diversity policies at Global Level.
Mr. Aman Trivedi is a management consultant having rich experience of approx. 10 years in Energy Sector, offered session on Energy Sector. He is an Engineer and MBA in Finance & Strategy from MDI, Gurgaon. He has worked in big conglomerates like a JV of POWERGRID and Reliance Infra, Siemens Ltd and a big 4 consulting organization namely “PWC Ltd”. Presently he is working as Strategy head for reputed organization “JAKSON LTD.” Over the course of time he has gained expertise in Business and Growth Strategy, consulting, Project Management, Market and Communication strategy, Business Development, Contracts and Commercial, Project Tendering, Execution, Project Financing, Regulatory Affairs.
In his current role as senior commodity manager at GE Gas Power, Mr. Sarthak Prakash is designated as the ‘Buy from India’ leader, responsible for maximizing procurement from Indian suppliers for global projects. He drives a cross-functional team across engineering, procurement, and supplier quality to identify new opportunities for increasing the regional footprint. He also manages the regional talent footprint for GE’s world-class career accelerator program in supply chain, known as Operations Management Leadership Program. Mr. Sarthak joined GE directly from campus in 2012; since then, he has worked with several GE businesses across various geographies such as Bangladesh, United States, and India. Prior to GE, Sarthak earned his MBA in Supply Chain from IIT Delhi, and his BTech in Computer Science from Indraprastha University in Delhi. In his session, he shared his view on MBA Employability… making the most of MBA journey, preparing a great resume, acing GD / PI for internships / final placements.
Mr. P.B. Kotur, General Manager and Global Head – Freshers Engagement Programs and Higher Education, Talent Transformation, Wipro Limited, Bangalore talked about Skill development for self-transformation and nation building. Mr. Kotur is an author, keynote speaker, motivational leader, an illustrated educationist and a global Talent Transformer. In his 26 years of overall IT career, he has been involved in teaching, training, evangelizing campus programs, creating and implementing the Work-Integrated Learning Programs and development activities. He has been associated with Wipro for the last 20 years and spearheaded several game-changing academic and business initiatives in the Organization. Currently, Mr. Kotur is the Head of the following initiatives in Wipro: Global Freshers Engagement Programs, Localization Programs, TalentNext, Pre-Joining Program (PJP), WASE, WiSTA, NOTCH UP and Foreign Language Academy. Mr. Abhishek Rajput is currently working as Director- Energy & Industry and has been a part of the industry for more than 14 years. He holds Master’s degree in Business Administration from IIM Calcutta and B.tech degree from SLIET Longowal. He is a very dynamic leader and has a keen eye for details. He holds Best Sales Zone 3 times in a row in his current organization and President Award for the Leading Change Management. Mr. Rajput explained the students the various concepts of Management and shared his real-life experiences.
Mr. Yogi Sriram is an Advisor to CEO & MD, Group Human Resources, Larsen & Toubro shared his view on “Social Intelligence”. He is a self- driven and focused HR thought leader with over 43 years of shaping & leading the HR functions across diverse industries right from Manufacturing, Hospitality, Finance, FMCG, Engineering, Petroleum, and Construction. He also has Shaped the HR function at the Shriram Group (Earlier DCM), NTPC, Asea Brown Boveri Limited and Lead the HR function at Dabur, BP, Taj Group (Tata) and L&T Group. Yogi Sir has been also Felicitated with a Lifetime Achievement Award in the HR Fraternity at the Eastern Region Conference of ISTD at Kolkata. He likes to collect HO/OO Scale Model Trains and he enjoys conversion of analogue trains into digital trains. Mr. Rajeev Srivastava held a session on Management concepts and Experience Exchange. He has been the MD & CEO of Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) since June 2019. He led the public listed company for all business in India and worldwide. He has been credited with transforming the organization to a customer focused digital enterprise. Prior to IEX Rajiv was Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Head of Sales Strategy; Operations for HP APJ. Based in Singapore. He has also worked as Managing Director at HP India for 6 years, responsible for managing and growing HP’s computing, printing, solutions and services. Rajiv holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani and a Masters in Marketing from Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi.
Mr. Khalid Raza, an accomplished Talent leader with 15 years of extensive experience in identifying organizational needs and providing innovative, strategic business solutions. He shared his insight on Talent Acquisition in New Normal. He is working as Talent Acquisition Lead for north & east India and Bangladesh, at EY. Experienced in Talent Attraction and Development with a strong track record at EY, IBM, and Satyam. He has extensive experience in managing local and global teams in India, Europe & North America. Academically he has done Executive program in HRM from IIM- Calcutta and b.com honors from Punjab University. In 2016 he was named in top 25 HR Executive Under 40 by Workforce Magazine. Mr. Tauseef Zia Siddiqui is a highly qualified professional with an experience of over 13+ years in sustainability, energy, environment, Integrated Management System, integrated waste management, CDM in the manufacturing and mining sector, operational excellence, stakeholder engagement process, etc. both at plant and corporate level. At present he is working as a Sustainability and Environmental specialist in Qatar Gas worlds premiere LNG company in Doha, Qatar. His team at Suslence Research has even crafted the guidelines for Sustainability Stewardship Award and gave it to Indian PM Shri N Modi in 2019. He talked about Self-Rebooting 101 : How can Energy & Sustainability Professionals Reform & Retool after the Pandemic. Mr. S K Sonee gave an Overview of Indian Power System. He has first-hand four decades of experience of Power System Operation of various Regional Grids of India and has worked extensively towards Integration of Grids leading to the formation of the National Grid and now SAARC Grid. He is a Life Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India) , Fellow of IEEE, Distinguished Alumnus IIT Kharagpur, Distinguished Member CIGRE , Fellow INAE , Foreign Member NAE , USA . He has represented India on the CIGRE Study Committee C2 on Power System Operation and the CIGRE Study Committee C5 on Electricity Markets and Regulation.
It was a great honour to have such prominent people as a part of our Induction Programme. They had shared a lot of knowledge, provided a lot of insight on various topics which helped the students learn more about the corporate world and the challenges in the real world. Apart from the Guest speakers, it was a great pleasure for all the students to have a separate interaction session with the Heads, Faculty members and staff of NSB who helped the students learn through various case studies and activities.
The event proved to be a great success and we welcome all the students on-board and wish heartiest congratulations to all.
